Articulators

The dental articulator is "a mechanical device that represents the temporomandibular joints and components of the jaws to which models of the maxilla and mandible can be incorporated to simulate the movement of the latter" (Academy of Denture Prosthetics 1977).

The articulator recreates, but does not duplicate, jaw movements. 

Its primary function is to reproduce the mandibular dynamics of the patient at the condylar level and its relationship with the dental arches and the craniofacial massif.
