To separate liquids and solids from the aspirated air flow, the dental clinic dry aspiration system uses the liquid-air filter (centrifugal or decantation). This filter is normally installed inside the dental equipment itself.

In dry suction, the tube that connects the suction motor to the dental chair contains only air. Liquids are drained directly down the drain of the chair.

The dry vacuum motor must be installed in the cabinet itself.

The dry suction system is a simple engine, with good performance. However, it requires more maintenance and does not incorporate a liquid-air filter or amalgam separator, so each dental chair must have its own.
